Smooth Moves Ahead

Essential Packing Tips

Start Early

Begin packing at least a few weeks in advance. This allows you to sort through your belongings and avoid last-minute stress. This is a great time to declutter. Don't forget to return cable equipment.

Use Quality Supplies

Invest in sturdy boxes, packing tape, and bubble wrap. Quality materials protect your items and make packing easier. Walmart Super Centers now have an isle dedicated to moving supplies. Home Depot and Lowes are good choices as well.

Label Everything

Clearly label each box with its contents and the room it belongs to. This will save you time when unpacking. Label on the top and one side of each box.

Pack Room by Room

Focus on one room at a time to stay organized. This method helps you keep track of what’s packed and what’s left. Use sturdy garbage bags for bed pillows, throw pillows, stuffed animals, and comforters to save money on boxes.

Protect Fragile Items

Wrap fragile items in bubble wrap or towels and place them in boxes with cushioning. This prevents breakage during the move. Packing paper works as well. Do not use newspaper! The print on todays paper will permanently imbed itself in your items.

Create an Essentials Box

Pack a box with essential items you'll need immediately after the move, such as toiletries, clothes, and important documents.
